Reaction Kinetics and Mechanistic Studies of the Rh-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation with MonoPhosTM

چکیده

In this chapter the results of kinetic studies of the rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation using monodentate phosphoramidite ligands are described. Together with the data obtained by a number of other techniques a mechanism for the Rhcatalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation with MonoPhosTM is proposed. The formation of the catalyst precursor results in a mixture of diastereomeric Rh-complexes which were determined by NMR techniques. The Halpern mechanism is proposed to be the most likely mechanism for the asymmetric hydrogenation based on the kinetic measurements.

Asymmetric hydrogenation of , -unsaturated phosphonates with Rh-BisP* and Rh-MiniPHOS catalysts: Scope and mechanism of the reaction

Optically active 1,2-bis(alkylmethylphosphino)ethanes and bis(alkylmethylphosphino)methanes are unique diphosphine ligands combining the simple molecular structure and P-stereogenic asymmetric environment. This work shows that these ligands exhibit excellent enantioselectivity in rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of , -unsaturated phosphonic acid derivatives. The enantioselective hydro...

Kinetic, mechanistic and thermodynamic investigations on Iridium (III) catalyzed oxidation of D-Mannitol by N-chloro-p-toluenesulfonamide in perchloric acid medium

The present paper deals with the kinetics and mechanism of homogeneously Ir(III) chloride catalyzed oxidation of D-mannitol by chloramine-T [CAT] in perchloric acid medium in the temperature range of 30 to 45 0C. The reaction is carried out in the presence of mercuric acetate as a scavenger for chloride ion. The experimental results show first order kinetics with respect to the oxidant [CAT] an...

Tandem rhodium catalysis: exploiting sulfoxides for asymmetric transition-metal catalysis.

Sulfoxides are uncommon substrates for transition-metal catalysis due to their propensity to inhibit catalyst turnover. In a collaborative effort with Ken Houk, we developed the first dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of allylic sulfoxides using asymmetric rhodium-catalyzed hydrogenation. A detailed mechanistic analysis of this transformation using both experimental and theoretical methods revea...

Synthesis of ortho-phenyl substituted MeO-BIPHEP ligand and its application in Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation

A new BIPHEP-type ligand with phenyl groups at the 3,30-positions, o-Ph-MeO-BIPHEP 3 was prepared. This ligand afforded excellent enantioselectivities when used in the Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of a-dehydroamino acid derivatives. The strong influence of o-phenyl groups of the ligand on the enantioselectivities of the reaction has been demonstrated by a comparison with its parent lig...

Synthesis of new monodentate spiro phosphoramidite ligand and its application in Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation reactions.

[reaction: see text] A new spirocyclic diol, 9,9'-spirobixanthene-1,1'-diol, was synthesized in two steps from readily available starting material m-phenoxyanisole. Resolution of the racemic diol was achieved by cocrystallization with N-benzylcinchonidinium chloride and N-benzylquininium chloride in acetonitrile. The corresponding spiro monodentate phosphoramidite ligand has been prepared for R...
